Red Bud Middle 7th Grade ELA classes were recently treated to A Haunted Christmas, an engaging educational presentation by Mr. Chad Crews. The show featured Christmas ghost stories by M. R. James and the most famous Christmas ghost story of all time, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The classes had just completed reading A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, so this performance was the perfect culminating activity. In addition to teasing students with cliffhangers from the stories, Mr. Crews performed mind-boggling magic tricks throughout the performance to heighten interest and encourage students to read.

Good evening Red Bud Middle School Families, It has been brought to our attention that a permission slip for an upcoming special presentation scheduled at RBMS has begun circulating social media. In an effort to provide transparency, I would like to provide additional details related to the presentation referenced in the permission slip. On December 14, 2022, there will be a special presentation in the RBMS media center by Mr. Chad Crews. Mr. Crews presents programs to promote reading, literacy, and generate enthusiasm and excitement at libraires. Mr. Crews conducts around 300 shows each year across the southeastern United States. The program that Mr. Crews will present at RBMS is titled, “A Haunted Christmas”. The majority of this program will focus on telling A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens that will include some legends and folklore. In no way is this presentation an attempt to present an alternate version of the Christmas Story. We are aware of the concerns that some in our community have expressed regarding how the permission slip provided was worded. I apologize if the wording presented in the program’s description caused you to be alarmed. I want to assure you that the primary objective of this presentation is to promote literacy in a fun way that connects to the 7th grade ELA standards. If you do not want your child to attend this presentation, an alternate assignment will be provided in another location. As an additional assurance, I would like you to know that myself or an RBMS administrator will be present for all four presentations. Thank you for your continued support. It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your principal. Respectfully, Justin Timms Principal

The Georgia Parent Survey was developed to measure parent perceptions of school climate at your child’s school. Your opinion is very important to us. Your survey responses are confidential and will be combined with the survey responses of other parents at your child’s school to identify areas in need of improvement. It should only take ten or fifteen minutes to complete the survey. Thank you for your time and participation. https://gshs.gadoe.org/Pages/Parent.aspx

Congratulations to the RBMS teacher & staff of the month for October, Mr. Matt Waters and Mrs. Holly Woodring! Matt Waters: Mr. Waters is an outstanding teacher who has a great relationship with our students even if they are not on his team. He takes the time to get to know his students and is a wonderful mentor to many of them. He is fun to work with and when you put him with Mr. Fain they come up with some pretty amazing ideas. He is always willing to help Ms. Carr with anything Agriculture related and is an awesome team member and RBMS is lucky to have him. Holly Woodring: Holly has to deal with everybody’s everything all day long!!! AND she does it with a smile on her face! She is ALWAYS helpful to students, parents, teachers, and anybody that comes into the building. We would be lost without her! 😊

Congratulations to the RBMS teacher and staff member of the month! Teacher of the Month: Wayne Harper-Mr. Harper has gone above and beyond with his math students this year by creating lessons on their level to bridge the gaps they had in math content. It has been a tiring and frustrating task at times, however, Mr. Harper never gives up nor says “they can’t do it”. He’s determined to teach them to face the world with real math skills. Staff Member of the Month: Jennifer Scheetz-Ms. Scheetz works well with our Special Education department. I have seen how much she cares and loves her students by the way she interacts with them. She is always friendly and kind to every staff member of the middle school. She is always willing to do whatever needs to be done for our school as well, that includes driving a bus when we need her. Ms. Scheetz goes beyond for her students and for her school.
