Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Jackie Cascio as Red Bud Middle School’s Teacher of the Year for the 2023-2024 school year!
Mrs. Cascio is highly regarded amongst the staff and students at RBMS as being an effective instructional leader. She is currently in her 17th year of teaching and uses this experience to mentor and guide new teachers. Mrs. Cascio is a member of the Gordon County Schools Inaugural Aspiring Leaders Cohort and is obtaining an endorsement in Teacher Support and Coaching. She uses her experience from teaching virtually with Georgia Public Schools to incorporate technology into curriculum. Mrs. Cascio is a vital member of the science staff for her creation of hands-on learning experiences and labs for students and for leading collaborative efforts amongst the science departments. Mrs. Cascio implements reading, writing, and speaking strategies into the classroom to improve science literacy and is the Instructional Resource Expert for science. She is always excited to volunteer to help with extracurricular activities and support her students outside of the classroom.

On Tuesday, March 14, the RBMS Jr. Tome Society traveled to Gainesville, GA for TomeCon. TomeCon is an all-day event full of sessions based on all facets of literary. School chapters can also submit projects for judging. Preslie Parish and Cheyanne Mathis came away with a first-place win for their current issues infographic, Preslie placed 1st with her book promotional flyer, and Pippa McKinney (not pictured) placed 3rd for her character to author letter.
Congratulations to Red Bud Middle Teacher of the Month, Cindy Knight, and Staff of the Month, Paula Adams! We appreciate both of you ladies.
Ms. Knight is a great teammate and is always willing to help students and teachers any way she can. She reaches beyond by working individually and in small groups with students to encourage them and help them achieve their math goals. She is invaluable in the classroom as a co-teacher because she is so capable of taking the role as lead teacher and is ready to assist with anything when needed.
Paula is always smiling! She is always happy to help students in the cafeteria and always greets them with a smile. We know our students appreciate her kindness, and we do too! She is amazing!

This week is National School Breakfast Week! RBMS students have enjoyed DIGGING into the delicious breakfasts and saying hi to our celebrity servers.

Given the latest timing of the impending storms and its impact on today’s dismissal, Gordon County Schools will be dismissing elementary schools today at 12:30 p.m. and middle and high schools at 1:30 p.m. Aftercare will operate as normal. Schools will communicate individually about the status of any other after-school activities that are scheduled for this afternoon and evening.
Gordon County Schools, in collaboration with local safety officials, is closely monitoring weather conditions expected for this afternoon. We stand ready to alter today’s dismissal in the interest of student and staff safety.
Should an official change of schedule (delay, early dismissal, etc.) be warranted, we will notify staff and families via our website, all social media handles, mass notification system, and share information with local media outlets.
Two students from the Red Bud Middle FBLA chapter recently competed at the FBLA State Leadership Conference in Covington, Georgia.
Seth Carr placed 3rd in Mission and Pledge and Preslie Parish placed 7th in Public Speaking. They both did an outstanding job representing our school.
Mark your calendars!! "The Little Mermaid Jr." presented by the RBMS Chorus!! Thursday and Friday, March 9 and 10, at 4:00pm and 7:30pm. Tickets are $5.00 each and available at the door. "Splash-o-grams" will be sold for $1.00 to send a note to your favorite cast or crew member. We can't wait to see everyone "Under the Sea"!!
Five RBMS students competed at Rock Eagle over winter break and won the 4-H LifeSmarts State Championship. Captain Pippa McKinney, Jet Johnston, Kaleb King, Preslie Parish, & Jenica Weaver did an outstanding job representing Gordon County 4-H and our school. (LifeSmarts teaches middle and high school students how to be great consumers as well as other skills to succeed in today’s marketplace while providing leadership opportunities.)

JANUARY
Teacher of the Month:
Russell Redd - Coach Redd might be the nicest person in the entire school! He is always willing to help and wants to see his students succeed. Coach Redd is always trying to better himself and his students in his classes by new teaching techniques and practices. Coach Redd also helps with football and is always supports RBMS athletics. Coach Redd helps make a difference in his students' lives in more ways than just teaching the curriculum.
Staff Member of the Month:
Becky Hulsey- Mrs. Hulsey has the tireless job of dealing with discipline both at school and bus issues. She does a great job and getting teacher input on what we feel the consequence should be for a student. She always has teacher's backs and is willing to listen to all issues.
DECEMBER
Teacher of the Month:
Valerie Robbins- Mrs. Robbins is a terrific middle school chorus teacher and musical director. She works tirelessly to ensure her performances are top notch and energizes all of our RBMS choral students to have a passion for musicals! Mrs. Robbins inspires her students to love and appreciate music. In December, she not only had a wonderful chorus concert, but she also started preparing for the Spring Musical and she made sure the connection teachers were ready for their "Grinch that Stole Christmas" debut. Mrs. Robbins continually reaches beyond at RBMS!
Staff of the Month:
Mr. Joe Cortazal (custodian)- Mr. Joe is always positive and friendly every afternoon if you encounter him as you're leaving for the day. He works very hard to keep our school in great shape and does so with the best attitude. Mr. Joe has stepped up when our custodial team has been lacking staff this year. Mr. Joe deserves to be recognized for Reaching Beyond at RBMS!

It's National School Counselor Week. We are so thankful for the work our two do every day!
On Tuesday, February 7, 8th Grade students from RBMS had the opportunity to tour Sonoraville High School and the Career Academy. Students were able to hear about all of the electives that are offered in high school and ask questions in preparation for class registration next week. A special thank you to Stephen Williams and Belmont Baptist Church for hosting the entire 8th grade for a pizza lunch!
