Gordon County Schools Families: Due to current severe winter weather conditions and tomorrow's forecast, Gordon County Schools will be closed Tuesday, January 16th, to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and community. We will continue to closely monitor weather and road conditions this week and will alert families about any decisions regarding school operations immediately. Thank you for your cooperation and please stay safe and warm.
Please note there has been a change in baseball tryouts due to the extremely cold weather.
Check out this week's events.
Congratulations to our teacher and staff member of the month for December!
Berkley Potts:
Berkley is always ready to help with a smile on her face. She is head coach of 2 sports here at RBMS and still volunteers her time to help with other extracurricular activities. She really loves her students, and it shows!
Tammie Bryan:
Tammie does an excellent job planning nutritious meals for our students and staff.

This week at The Bud...
All RBMS students took the Winter MAP test in December. Students that met growth goals on both the math and reading portions of the test had their name entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card. We had over 160 students meet or exceed growth goals in both areas, so we drew two names from each grade level to win $50 gift cards.
Congratulations to these winners!
6th grade: Liam Townsend and Nicolas Betancourt
7th grade: Emily Monroy and Corbyn Morgan (not pictured)
8th grade: Kallie Rogers and Luke Harkins
Congratulations to Red Bud Middle's Spelling Bee winner, 8th grader, Luci Billera! Luci's winning word was "syncopation." Luci will compete in the district bee in January! Declan Wang, 6th grader, was the runner-up!
7th grade students wrapped up their Genetics and DNA unit with a visit from Detective Jay Johnston from the Gordon County Sheriff’s Department. Students learned about techniques used to collect evidence from crime scenes and the importance of DNA and Forensics. The classroom elves were even involved in some criminal mischief!
Red Bud Middle 7th Grade ELA classes were recently treated to A Haunted Christmas, an engaging educational presentation by Mr. Chad Crews. The show featured Christmas ghost stories by M. R. James and the most famous Christmas ghost story of all time, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The classes had just completed reading A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, so this performance was the perfect culminating activity. In addition to teasing students with cliffhangers from the stories, Mr. Crews performed mind-boggling magic tricks throughout the performance to heighten interest and encourage students to read.
Friday, December 15 is an early release day for Gordon County Schools. Red Bud Middle will dismiss at 12:30 PM.
Check out the activities for the final school week of 2023!
It's a busy week at The Bud!
The weather outside might be frightful, but breakfast and lunch at Red Bud Middle cafeteria is soooo delightful! Gordon County School Nutrition will be celebrating with some special foods in December: brownies for National Brownie Day and a special holiday-flavored Jolly Sidekick frozen fruit treat on December 8. Then, on December 13, we will feature freshly baked cinnamon rolls as part of our Christmas Brunch for Lunch. Finally, on December 7, we will serve a traditional Christmas lunch with turkey, ham and the sides we all love.
Welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Here's what's happening this week at The Bud! Also, check out the upcoming holiday dress up day calendar.
