Our Gordon Central Performing Alliance is thrilled to announce that five of our masterful musicians have been selected for the 2025 Georgia Music Educator’s All-State Chorus.
L-R Anna Caroline Parker, Seth Kolterman, Harrison Hughes, Cecilia Kolterman, and Sadie Holmes. These fine singers will join the best of our state musicians for a weekend of choral music excellence in Athens, GA in February. Congratulations to these warriors!
The Gordon County JROTC Commanders Rifle Team competed in a 3-position air rifle match against the Etowah High School Eagles on Nov. 14. In a hard-fought match, the Eagles bested the Commanders 1105 – 825.
Shooting high score for the Commanders was Cadet Sergeant Major Jaden Cromer-Brock with a match score of 230. “A team shooting sporter rifles to be this competitive against a team shooting precision rifles is a remarkable feat” said Coach COL(R) Wallace Steinbrecher. “As we receive new precision air rifles, I expect this team to become one of the most competitive in Area 10.”

Dr. Walker and Dr. Stover from Georgia Highlands College recently visited to promote the college’s outstanding Nursing and Dental Hygienist programs. Their presentation provided an in-depth look at the rigorous training and career opportunities these programs offer, equipping students for success in the healthcare field. Juniors and seniors from Gordon Central High School attended the meeting, gaining valuable insights into pursuing a future in these rewarding professions. A special thanks goes to Julia Rodriguez from Georgia Highlands College for organizing this informative and inspiring event.
On Tuesday, Gordon Central sophomores visited The Breman Holocaust Museum in Atlanta. It was an eye-opening experience for the students after reading Night by Elsie Wiesel in Mr. Rapier, Mr. Matherly, and Mrs.Sullivan's classes.
Gordon Central High School is excited to announce a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of its highly anticipated new additions and renovations. Following the ceremony, there will be a reunion and open house, offering parents, alumni, former faculty and staff, and community members the chance to tour the newly updated facilities. The Gordon Central HOSA students participated in the Fall Leadership Conference last Thursday and Friday in Athens, Ga. Although we did not place in the competitions, we learned so much from the workshops we attended. It was a very insightful and fun trip, and we were able to connect with Calhoun High and Sonoraville High HOSA students!!

Several members of SGA (student government) participated in a Better Than Good conference in Dallas, GA. Students listened to guest speakers, participated in a variety of team building activities, and saw many examples of how to improve a school’s climate and culture from schools all around the United States. There was lots a good music, dancing, fun, and laughter. The students had a great time and look forward to bringing these ideas back to GCHS. #Together GCHS
On Wednesday, Gordon Central High School honored veterans with a traditional thanksgiving meal during lunch hosted by JROTC cadets. Thank you to all who participated and all who have served our country. We are truly grateful for our veterans!
