Gordon County Schools will be closed Tuesday, January 21st, 2025.
Due to the latest weather forecast predicted by GEMA for potential precipitation in the northwest Georgia region, all schools in the district will be closed Tuesday. This precaution is to ensure the safety of our students, employees, and families for unpredictable weather.
We will continue to work with local agencies to monitor the weather forecast for the rest of the week. Families will be promptly notified through our communication channels.
Stay warm and safe tomorrow!

Senior Alicia DeLaCruz was recognized today by the Calhoun Woman's Club as their Youth of the Month. In addition to being an honors student, Alicia is the president of GC's chapter of the National Honor Society. She is also the Blue Wave Band's color guard captain and an active member of Sources of Strength. In her nomination, English teacher and NHS Adviser Shannon Rainwater stated that, "Alicia is one of the most responsible and dependable students I know. She is creative, curious, and follows through with her commitments". In addition to attending GC, Alicia also works 30 hours a week at The Yellow Jacket Diner. She plans to attend Reinhardt University to become a nurse. While in college, she hopes to continue her love of color guard with the Reinhardt band. Congratulations, Alicia!

Due to the current Winter Storm Watch and the forecast of potential snow, ice, and high winds, all Gordon County Schools will be closed on Friday, January 10th, to prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and community.
Students will bring home any missing assignments, including work for their reading logs, spelling, vocabulary, or other classwork, to complete if they have not already done so at school. We encourage families to use this time to help students stay on track with their learning.
We will continue to monitor weather and road conditions closely and will update families promptly about any further changes to school operations. Thank you for your continued support. Please stay safe and warm!
