Congratulations to our FES School Nurse, Tamara McReynolds. Nurse Tamara was recently selected as the Lead School Nurse for Gordon County Schools through Advent Health. The Lead School Nurse oversees the School Health program and each school nurse for Gordon County Schools. Nurse Tamara is a valuable part of our Bulldog family and we are blessed to have her at FES!

Our 4th grade students are having a blast redeeming their Dojo points to read to other classes. Our students visited Mrs. Hartmann’s class, Mrs. Howard’s class, and Mrs. Christy’s class. They loved getting to read and visit with some of their younger friends.

School Holiday Monday, Jan. 20.

Due to road conditions from inclement weather, Gordon County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Monday, January 13. This delay is implemented to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families Monday morning.
Please adjust your child's morning drop-off time by two hours. Buses will also operate on a two-hour delay behind their usual route times. Elementary schools will begin at 9:30 a.m. Middle and high schools will begin at 10:30 a.m.

FES 4th grade had several students redeem their Dojo points to read to another class. Fourth graders visited Mrs. Christy's and Mr. Chastain's class today. We will have more readers visiting classrooms next week.

Fairmount Elementary 5th grade Reading/ELA teacher Molli Price reviewed literary elements and had a great class discussion this morning with her students. #TogetherGCS #GordonCountySchools

Due to the current Winter Storm Watch and the forecast of potential snow, ice, and high winds, all Gordon County Schools will be closed on Friday, January 10th, to prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and community.
Students will bring home any missing assignments, including work for their reading logs, spelling, vocabulary, or other classwork, to complete if they have not already done so at school. We encourage families to use this time to help students stay on track with their learning.
We will continue to monitor weather and road conditions closely and will update families promptly about any further changes to school operations. Thank you for your continued support. Please stay safe and warm!

Today in Pre-k, students created the Pre-K versions of The Southern Creamery and La Louise.

Fairmount Elementary Celebrates Apple Distinguished School Recognition
Fairmount Elementary School celebrated being recognized as an Apple Distinguished School today with an exciting pep rally in the gym! This honor is given to schools that show leadership, creativity, and excellence in education by using Apple technology in their classrooms.
The pep rally was a special event for the students and the community. It included performances by the Sonoraville High School cheerleaders and marching band. Phoenix athletes and video production students also joined the celebration, sharing the importance of this achievement and cheering on the Bulldogs. Sonoraville’s video production students played a key role in filming the submission video that helped Fairmount earn this recognition.
Being named an Apple Distinguished School shows that Fairmount Elementary has created an exciting and successful learning environment that helps students thrive and achieve.
Gordon County Schools would like to thank Dr. Patti Crane and Mike Kole from Apple for presenting the banner and plaque. We also want to recognize the hard work of the students and staff at Fairmount Elementary, as well as the leadership of Principal Rebecca Champion. Thank you to Instructional Technology Coordinator Whitney Prather for guiding the application process and sharing Fairmount’s story.
Congratulations to Fairmount Elementary on this amazing achievement! The whole community is proud of you and excited to see the continued impact of your innovative teaching.
