Happy National School Counseling Week to the very best Counselor, Judith Cunningham. We are blessed to have Ms. Cunningham at FES. Ms. Cunningham helps our students navigate the challenges of growing up, advocates for our students, and encourages faculty & staff every day! She has also been a tremendous help with the Helping Hands Ending Hunger program that started this year at FES!

Congratulations to our FES Custodian Cynthia "Lulu" Awtrey for winning our January attendance gift card! Every month we have a drawing for a gift card for faculty and staff that have not missed a day for that month. Also, we would like to thank the Horace Mann Agency for continuing to support FES by donating the gift cards for our staff.

The goal of every Georgia Pre-K classroom is to provide our four-year-olds with the experiences that they need to prepare for kindergarten. In 1993, Gordon County Schools had the foresight to be instrumental in establishing one of the first Pre-K sites in the state of Georgia. Currently, Gordon County Schools has sixteen Pre-K classrooms.
Children must be four years old on or before September 1. Children who are five years old by September 1, may attend Pre-K if they have not previously attended a Georgia Pre-K.

Fairmount Elementary media specialist Kimberly Clements loves reading to our kindergarten Bulldogs! Her library is a great place to foster literacy and enjoying books. #TogetherGCS #GordonCountySchools

Wonder what Mrs. Champion is saying about Corduroy? Mrs. Champion was reading one of her favorite books, Corduroy by Don Freeman, to Ms. Crider's first grade class. The class seen the book on Mrs. Champions poster in the hallway and asked her to read the book to them. Story time was loved by all!

Hat Day tomorrow!

Gordon County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Wednesday, January 22. This delay is implemented to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families at this time.
Please adjust your child's morning drop-off time by two hours. Buses will also operate on a two-hour delay behind their usual route times. Elementary schools will begin at 9:30 a.m. Middle and high schools will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Note that buses may run slightly later than the normal schedule to allow for extra precautions to keep students warm and safe. Encourage children to dress warmly as they travel to school. Layering helps keep them safe and warm. Indoor recess activities will take place. We will also provide flexibility with arrival times for all students to ensure safe arrivals.
Weather forecasts indicate a slight chance of precipitation this evening. We are working closely with local agencies to continue monitoring the situation and will notify families promptly through our communication channels if anything changes.

Gordon County Schools will be closed Tuesday, January 21st, 2025.
Due to the latest weather forecast predicted by GEMA for potential precipitation in the northwest Georgia region, all schools in the district will be closed Tuesday. This precaution is to ensure the safety of our students, employees, and families for unpredictable weather.
We will continue to work with local agencies to monitor the weather forecast for the rest of the week. Families will be promptly notified through our communication channels.
Stay warm and safe tomorrow!
