Foil your dinner plans and stop by the Chipotle at 530 Highway 53 E in Calhoun for our fundraiser on Tuesday, October 17 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm. We're raising money to support Tolbert Elementary School, so just download a flyer from the picture below or mention the fundraiser at checkout and they'll donate 33% of the proceeds to our school.
Can't wait to see you!

Welcome back! I hope students, staff, and families had a restful break. There are a few reminders before we begin the second nine weeks. First, teachers submit attendance at 7:35, therefore students are expected to be in their seats at that time. Next, all parents and campus visitors must show identification to enter the building. We must adhere to this to develop consistent procedures that protect our students. We are looking forward to seeing everyone bright and early tomorrow!

Get ready for some important dates in September! •September 4th - Labor Day (Gordon County Schools are closed) •September 13th and 14th - On these days, we will be observing early student release/conference days. This dedicated time will be used for parent-teacher conferences, giving a boost to parent-teacher communication, inclusion and transparency. On early student release days, elementary school kids will head home at 11:30 AM, while middle and high school students will wrap up their day at 12:30 PM. If elementary school parents require after-school care on these occasions, we're excited to share that GCS has rolled out a special rate for the Afterschool Program at every GCS elementary school. •September 15th, we're marking the first "at Home Learning Day" of the 2023-24 academic year. This day is designed to provide extra support for our dedicated GCS educators to plan high-quality classroom instruction. It also offers students who may have fallen behind on assignments an opportunity to catch up and successfully complete their work.

Tolbert Elementary School Scholastic Book Fair will run September 5th through September 8th. https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/tolbertelementaryschool

Children should remain fully in the vehicle until you are parked in the unloading zone and have been given the signal to unload. No part of the child's body should be hanging from the vehicle windows or sunroof. Students should be seated in the vehicle seat not riding on roll bars.

🚍 It's back-to-school season, and that means it's time to brush up on school bus safety! Let's ensure our kids have a safe and enjoyable journey to school every day. 🎒📚
SCHOOL BUS SAFETY TIPS - AT THE BUS STOP:
•Arrive at the bus stop five minutes before the bus is scheduled to come.
•Wait at the bus stop in a safe place, 12 feet away from the road.
•Wait in an orderly group: Form an orderly line as the bus approaches, with the first student in line standing 12 feet away from traffic.
•If you miss the bus, return home and get help or phone a parent/guardian for assistance
•NEVER chase after the bus.
•NEVER wear headphones/ear buds or hoodies while loading or unloading the bus: the driver needs to be able to make eye contact and communicate.
•NEVER walk or drive to another bus stop:your bus driver will not be expecting you.
