Goals were made by seniors Juan Vicente (2), Richard Barrios (2), Jefferson Avila (1), and Charley Garcia, who had a hat trick (3)! This week was a great start to the season!

We are excited to announce the following 5 students have been issued their official invitation to the 2022 Georgia Music Educators All-State Chorus - Hailey Sloan (senior), Sadie Holmes (freshmen), Jude Clance (junior), Catherine Hughes (junior) and Aliyah Mills (sophomore). These students have worked diligently to master their music skills and complete their qualifications for this year's choirs. We are so proud of them and their dedication to excellence. We look forward to our time in the classic city of Athens and this year's series of concerts! We can't wait to hang out with our 6 Ashworth Middle School friends who have also qualified to for GMEA All-State!

NGNB continues to be involved with and support our athletic and scholastic activities, and their involvement and commitment to the Gordon County community can never be understated. Congratulation to senior Lindsey Lowrance, Gordon Central’s 2022 STAR Student! STAR is an acronym for Student Teacher Achievement Recognition, and the STAR Student is the Senior with the highest SAT Score on a single test date who is in the top 10% of their class. In addition to being recognized for their achievements, STAR Students are asked to select the teacher who they feel made the most significant contribution to their scholastic development to be named their STAR Teacher, and Lindsey selected Ms. Melanie Moore of Ashworth Middle School. Congratulations to both Lindsey and Coach Moore!
Gordon Central High School student, Lindsey Lowrance, was recently awarded a 2021-2022 National Rural and Small-Town Recognition Award from College Board® for her academic achievements and outstanding performance on AP® exams. We would like to congratulate Lindsay on this national academic recognition.

We are excited to welcome our students back on Wednesday, January 5th!
We wanted to share a few quick facts before our first day back:
-We ask that students and staff members displaying symptoms of the Covid-19 illness please remain at home.
-Students missing school due to a medically related absence will be marked as excused. Students will be able to complete their work through Schoology or make up missed assignments
-Gordon County Schools will continue practicing mitigation measures including encouraging distancing when possible, practicing enhanced cleaning procedures of all rooms and buildings, limiting visitors, encouraging hand-washing, and making hand sanitizer available.
-A detailed outline of the Gordon County Schools phases of mitigation can be found at https://www.gcbe.org/covidprotocols.
-Gordon County Schools encourages you to follow the guidance from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and the DPH (Department of Public Health.)
