Senior Superlatives & Senior Best!
Good afternoon Gordon Central seniors, parents, and guardians. This is Mr. Hall with some exciting news about the 2022 GCHS Senior Prom! We are proud to announce our partnership this year with the Harris Arts Center Executive Director, Miranda Bentley, and her board of directors in allowing us to host prom in their community facility on Saturday, April 23rd, from 7 to 11 p.m.
With the decrease of COVID-19 cases at Gordon Central and in Gordon County, the GC administration and prom committee felt we owed it to our students to find a special venue for our prom this year. We also needed to select a date that did not impact our seniors and their athletic, scholastic, and performance events during April and May. Two years ago we were unable to have prom, and last year our committee, led by Shannon Rainwater and Sherry Sullivan, hosted a fabulous event outside our gymnasium. This year, we are ready to return to normal, but we had to wait and ensure we were supporting the health and safety of our students when making this decision.
Mrs. Bentley and the Harris Arts Center were gracious to help us with a date and venue. Their flexibility and desire to commit their facilities to our Calhoun and Gordon County families is a testament to the HAC's mission of providing and giving back to this community. I am beyond excited about our partnership and collaboration to support our students in creating memories.
I cannot wait for our seniors to participate in this year's prom on April 23rd. Thank you families for your patience, support, and understanding. Go Warriors!
Soccer night at Ratner Stadium started off with the girls winning a nail-biter versus Coosa! The game was tied 3-3 at the end of regulation, then it was tied at the end of the two 10 minute overtime periods! The game went to penalty kicks, after which the score was tied again! In the second round of sudden death PKs, both teams made one, then both missed one. Finally, Coosa missed and the Warriors scored, making the game 5-4 in favor of the Warriors!
The boys had an early score by Brayan Rico, and the remainder of the game was a defensive battle! Warrior boys won 1-0!
Congratulations to both teams!

Gordon Central High School is dedicated to educating the whole child, and we are excited about the 7 Mindsets social-emotional learning curriculum we have implemented for the 2021-22 school year. Students meet in advisement groups each Monday and participate in structured activities focusing on things such as positive relationships, gratitude, and making a difference in their community. The focus for February 28 and March 7, 14, & 21 is Live to Give. By clicking on the link below, parents/guardians can access a newsletter filled with information and activities which families can use at home to further support their student. Questions or comments about the 7 Mindsets curriculum can be addressed to Dr. Jeff Clance, Counselor, at 706-879-5181 or jclance@gcbe.org .
