This is what CHAMPIONS look like! The GC Warriors are the Region 7AA soccer champions after beating Coosa tonight and finishing their region play undefeated (8-0). Tonight’s game was intense, ending regulation in a 2-2 tie (goals made by Charles Garcia with assists from Zeke Parada and Brayan Rico). The game was still tied after the overtime period, sending the game to penalty kicks. Allen Garcia, Richard Barrios, Brayan Rico, and Charles Garcia all made their PKs, while goalie Armando Sanchez had great saves and held Coosa to only one PK. The final score was 3-2 and Gordon Central will advance to the State Playoffs as the number 1 seed in the region. So proud of these athletes and Coach Wiley!
The Warriors teamed up with Calhoun and Sonoraville tonight to compete against Northwest Whitfield, Dalton, and Coahulla Creek in the 1st Annual County Line Track and Field Championship! Gordon County came home with a win for both the boys and the girls! It was a great night!

Gordon Central High School Named AP Honor School for 2022
CALHOUN, GA – Georgia State School Superintendent Richard Woods has named Gordon Central High School an Advanced Placement (AP) Honor School for 2022.
AP exams are administered by the College Board, which also administers the SAT. AP courses are one of several ways Georgia students can access college-level learning at the high school level; students who receive a 3, 4, or 5 on an AP exam may receive college credit. The 2022 AP Honor Schools were named in eight categories, based on the results of 2021 AP courses and exams.
Gordon Central High School has been named an AP Access and Support school. Access and Support Schools are schools with at least 30 percent of their AP exams taken by students who identified themselves as African-American and/or Hispanic, and 30 percent of all AP exams earning scores of 3 or higher.
“We are committed to expanding opportunities for Georgia students, including in advanced and accelerated coursework,” State Superintendent Woods said. “I offer my sincere congratulations to each of this year’s AP Honor Schools, and thank each teacher, student, and school leader who worked hard to create strong AP opportunities in these Georgia schools.”
The Georgia Department of Education began recognizing AP Honor Schools in 2008.
Seniors were able to meet with and learn valuable information from employers at the Senior Career Fair at GNTC today.

It's that time of year again - FFA is hosting our 2nd Annual Egg My Yard fundraiser this Easter!
Here's how it works: You order an "egging" from FFA. We visit on the night of Saturday, April 16th to hide your Easter eggs. Wake up on Easter morning to 24 (or more) hidden candy (no chocolate - we all know how unpredictable Easter weather is in Georgia!) and prize filled Easter Eggs in a designated location around your house. This is perfect if you have young children, grandchildren, or neighbors. You can even gift an "egging" (as long as you provide us the contact info for the house you wish for us to "egg") to a neighbor or friend as long as they reside within the Calhoun City Limits.
Cost: $20 per 24 eggs, $40 for 48 eggs, $60 for 72 eggs.
When: We will "egg" the yard Saturday, April 16th after 8:30 p.m.
Payment: Once you order is received, you'll get an invoice and instructions for paying online. Orders & payment due by April 1, 2022.

You can still donate. Drop donations off in the donation box in the media center.
The Lady Warrirs golf team had a great performance at the Nob North Tournament today. It was a long hard day, but our girls fought through for a second place finish out of 10 teams. Coach Dooley is extremely proud of the girls. They continue to work and improve their games.
Congratulations to the following Gordon Central Seniors who graduated as part of the 2022 Calhoun-Gordon County Youth Leadership Program: Matthew Spence, Brooke Wilson, Aubry Dorsey, Itzel Lopez, Keean Sexton, Addison Baker, Hailey Sloan (not pictured), and Lindsey Lowrance(not pictured). At the beginning of the school year, these 8 students were selected to participate in this program sponsored by our local Chamber of Commerce. Throughout the year they have met with state and local leaders, toured our local businesses, and interacted with many people who serve our community. Special congratulations go to Matthew Spence who was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Youth Leadership Program.
