National Custodian Day, which rolls around every October 2, recognizes the hard work that it takes to keep our school in tip-top shape, spotless and sanitary. But, as many of you would agree: everyday is a day to celebrate these awesome teammates! Custodians do more than just clean up after messy kids (and adults), they have a huge impact on culture and student achievement. We appreciate all you do for Belwood, inside and out!! By the way, I asked for a photo and ended up doing a photo shoot - which is EXACTLY why we LOVE these ladies! ATTENTION BELWOOD FAMILIES: You should have recently received information about a wonderful opportunity for you to support our school and our students! It is called the Break-A-Thon fundraiser! The Break-A-Thon is a Board Breaking Fundraiser designed to enhance student confidence while raising funds for our school. Over a 6-week period, students will set a goal to break 5 boards each and seek pledge donations from friends and family, similar to “Jump Rope for Heart” This will culminate in a high-energy “Board Break Day” at the end of the 6 weeks where students demonstrate their skills and break their 5 boards. All students who raise at least $50 will get to break 5 boards on Board Break Day held during school! (Oct 31) Remember, raising more than $50 won’t increase the number of boards you break, but it will help your school reach your fundraising goals. The classroom that raises the most money will win a Ninja Pizza Party! Keep pushing to raise as much as you can – every extra dollar helps us make a bigger impact for our school! #TogetherBES #GordonCountySchools #belwoodfamily #BuildingExceptionalStudents #TogetherGCS #BreakAThon

Please stay safe in the forecasted weather that we have coming our way. If you haven't see this and you happen to need emergency shelter during or after the storm Gordon County Emergency Services just released this info: (Calhoun) – Hurricane Helene continues to gain strength in the Gulf of Mexico and is moving north toward Georgia. Due to this storm system, Gordon County is under a Tropical Storm Warning and Flash Flood Watch into Friday afternoon. With that in mind, Crane Eater Community Church located at 3168 Red Bud Road NE in Calhoun has reached out to Gordon County Emergency Management to offer their gym as a temporary shelter to those who may need somewhere to go to get out of the storm and into shelter. This location will supply a space along with somewhere to sit or lay down, relax and stay overnight. Food to include light snacks, coffee and water will also be made available. This temporary shelter will be opened today at 5 p.m. through Friday at 1 p.m. Listed times of operation must be adhered to. Also, anyone with small pets can bring them as well as long as they have a portable kennel and supply their own pet food. All those that seek shelter at this location will be expected to respect the location, the volunteers and others that seek shelter there. Anyone who cannot act accordingly or who damages the property will be asked to leave.
