The JV & Varsity boys registered wins at Armuchee last night. The JV won 32-22 behind Ayden Parrish's 20 points. Jamari Millsap also played a strong game, pulling down 7 rebounds.
The Varsity won 35-30. Yabriel Borges led scoring with 13 points (including a banked-in 3!!). Trey Bryant had his best night of the year, scoring 11 and pulling down 5 boards..
The boys are off until January 4th when all boys & girls are in action at home against St. Mary's of Rome.

In girls' basketball action yesterday, our JV team lost a very close game against Armuchee. We went into overtime and lost 26-25. Skylin Manis led the team with 9 points. She had help from Jocelyn Fuentes with 6, Mattie Schmitz with 4, and Brandie Taylor and Emma Bennett with 3. Our girls fought hard and have made big improvements in their game.
In varsity, we came up short 31-19. Our girls fought through a very physical game and worked hard. Baylee Chastain led with 10 and had help from Addy Hobson with 6 and Savannah Weller with 3.

Congratulations to Ashworth’s recipients of the Georgia REACH Scholarship.
REACH Georgia is a mentorship and scholarship program that begins in 8th grade. REACH Scholars are paired with a mentor and an academic coach through middle and high school. Scholars must maintain good grades (2.5 GPA), behavior and attendance through middle and high school. Scholars who successfully complete the program and graduate from high school are awarded a $10,000 scholarship ($2,500/year) that can be used at any HOPE eligible institution in Georgia.

Saturday, the Warrior Wrestling team competed in the Rising Eagle Individual Traditional Tournament at Coosa High School and ended up bringing home 2nd place out of 10 teams. The warriors were edged out of 1st place by Woodland and finished ahead of Red Top, Carrollton, Chattooga, Coosa, Heard County, Armuchee, Rockmart, and Pepperell. Colton Banks, Yair Martinez, Andon Bailey, and Johnathan Gonzalez all finished 1st. Nate Swims, Landin Siburkis, Chapel Parr, Juan Rodriguez, and Cooper Pass finished 2nd. Brayden Timms placed 3rd and Vance Siburkis placed 4th. Gabe Roberson, Kenly Garland and Browning Marlowe all had wins that added to the team score. The team is back in action Monday at home against North Whitfield and Darlington with wrestling starting at 4:30pm.

In girls' basketball action yesterday, our JV team defeated Coosa 33-13! Ma'shell Mcfadden led in scoring with 15 points. Emma Bennett worked hard in the post and had 6 points. It was a whole team effort as Jocelyn Fuentes contributed 4, Emma Derrick had 3, Skylin Manis had 2, Brandie Taylor had 2, and Mattie Schmitz had a free throw. If you see these ladies, please congratulate them!
In varsity, the girls had a very close game. After a back and forth battle, Coosa hit a last second shot to win 28-27. All our girls worked hard and executed well. Savannah Weller led with 8 points, Baylee Chastain had 6, Addy Hobson had 4, Ma'shell Mcfadden had 4, Emma Bennett had 3, and Amberly Wall had 2.

The Wrestling Warriors defeated Rossville 46-30 and Dade County 45-33. Nate Swims, Chapel Parr, Juan Rodriguez, Yair Martinez, Andon Bailey, and Brayden Timms all went 2-0. Landin Siburkis, Vance Siburkis, Johnathan Gonzalez, and Cooper Pass went 1-1 during the night. The team is back in action this Saturday at Coosa High School starting at 9am.
