GORDON COUNTY, GA - Gordon County Schools is proud to announce the nominees for the prestigious Governor's Honors Program (GHP). This highly competitive program recognizes and supports intellectually gifted and artistically talented high school students, offering them a unique and enriching educational experience during a four-week summer instructional program.
The 16 exceptional students from Gordon Central High and Sonoraville High have been selected to represent their schools in the state-level application process for a chance to become semifinalists. If successful, they will move on to the in-person GHP interviews scheduled for February. The Governor’s Honors Program provides an unparalleled opportunity for students to engage in rigorous coursework, collaborate with peers, and learn from distinguished educators in various fields.
GHP, fully funded by the Georgia General Assembly, will take place on the campus of Georgia Southern University this summer. Rising juniors and seniors from both public and private high schools in Georgia are eligible for nomination by their teachers. The program covers a diverse range of major instructional areas, including agricultural research, biotechnology and science, communicative arts, computer science, dance, engineering, mathematics, music, science, social studies, theatre performance, visual arts, and world languages.
