The Sonoraville High School Work-Based Learning Program recently participated in a Fireside Chat at the State Board of Education Retreat at Brasstown Valley Resort. The purpose of the panel was to promote best practices for exposing students to in-demand careers. For the 11th year in a row, GA remains the #1 state in the nation to do business.
SHS senior Victoria Strickland has been recognized by Mohawk Industries for being an outstanding employee and student in the WBL program with teacher Dr. Andrea Walraven. She was chosen to represent Mohawk and Sonoraville High School for her exceptional performance on the job.
The SHS WBL program was recognized for continuing to be a leader in matching student CTAE Pathways to future careers. Victoria, Mohawk Program Manager for Workforce Development Laura Wood, and Dr. Walraven had lunch at the retreat with Dr. Barbara Wall, Deputy Superintendent, and spoke with State School Superintendent Richard Woods.
Congratulations Victoria on your successes, and a huge thank you to Mohawk and Ms. Wood for being an invaluable partner in developing a quality workforce pipeline.
