The Xavier Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is proud to announce that Ian Robbins has been named the chapter’s recipient of the Outstanding Teacher of American History Award.
Mr. Robbins is an 8th grade Georgia History teacher at Red Bud Middle School in Calhoun. He was honored for his dedication to teaching American history and for his ability to make the subject engaging, meaningful, and relevant to his students. His commitment to historical accuracy, thoughtful instruction, and enthusiasm for the founding era reflects the values promoted by the DAR in its mission of historic preservation, education, and patriotism.
On February 14, Mr. Robbins presented a compelling program to the Xavier Chapter focusing on the early history of Georgia. His presentation highlighted the colony’s founding, the vision of James Oglethorpe, and the unique social and economic framework that shaped Georgia’s beginnings. He offered insightful context about Georgia’s role as the thirteenth colony and its strategic importance in early American development. Red Bud Middle School art teacher Kimberly Fields had her students wrapping up a project focused on making their artwork pop in a 3-D way through layering. Students then began a new creative assignment where they are designing artwork to tell the story behind why the subject in Edvard Munch’s "The Scream" might be screaming.
The classroom was full of creativity and energy as students explored perspective, emotion, and storytelling through art.

The YGA competition is one of Georgia’s most prestigious opportunities for young writers. For more than two decades, it has encouraged students across the state to develop enthusiasm for writing, strengthen their craft and celebrate their accomplishments in the arts and academics.
Noraleigh and Kynslee truly represent what it means to be a "rare breed" at RBMS — standing out through hard work, creativity, and a commitment to excellence. Their writing showcases the courage, voice, and originality that sets them apart. Their entries will move on to compete at the Northwest GA RESA level competition in March.

RBMS Health Screening Notice
Scoliosis screenings for students in 6th and 8th grades will take place on March 6th.
We appreciate AdventHealth for providing private screening areas for all participating students this year. These arrangements are designed to help students feel comfortable while ensuring their privacy is respected throughout the screening process. For student comfort and modesty, all female students will need to wear a bra or sports bra during the screening.

There will be a mandatory parent meeting on March 24 at 6:30pm in the Red Bud Middle School Cafeteria to go over the details for the trip in April. Congratulations to chorus students, Scarlett Caudill and Alecsia Lopez, for representing RBMS at Georgia All State Chorus on February 19-21. Being an All-State participant is the highest rank a chorus student can achieve and they must go through multiple rounds of auditions and countless hours of practice to earn this honor. They represent the top 8% of 7th-12th grade choral singers in the state. Way to represent The Bud, ladies! We are so proud of you!

On February 12, 2026, the RBMS 7th/8th Grade Festival Chorus traveled to GMEA District 9 West Choral Large Group Evaluation (LGPE). This evaluation is similar to GA Milestones testing for performing arts. Students prepare two contrasting songs from memory and also sight-read.
The Festival Chorus earned an overall EXCELLENT rating. They earned superior, excellent, and excellent in Performance and excellent in sight reading.
