The weekend of January 22, Gordon County 4-H attended Cloverleaf Project Achievement, a public speaking competition, in Rome, Georgia with our delegation of middle school students. We had an incredible showing there, taking home the award for Highest Percentage of Winners, because ALL of our students placed in their categories. See attached for pictures of students from Red Bud Middle School that participated.
Seth Carr - Poultry - 2nd Place
Sarah Dutton - Health - 1st Place
Jet Johnston - Historic Places and Events - 1st Place
Jose Manuel Lara Olmedo - International - 1st Place
Darcy Owen - Marine and Coastal Ecology - 1st Place
Preslie Parish - Photography and Videography - 1st Place
Gage Quinn - Beef - 1st Place
William Parish also represented Gordon County 4-H at the district level as a junior board member.
A special thanks to Carrie Parish for all her efforts with these students. Red Bud Middle had the highest participation for this group, and much of that participation comes from her persistence in supporting youth in their projects.
Don't miss the RBMS activities of the week.

Congratulations to Red Bud Middle School's Teacher and Staff Member of the Month, Ms. Carrie Parish and Mrs. Rachel Carter!
Ms. Parish has started our STEM lab at RBMS that the students love. She sponsors the Academic team and also helps with 4-H. She assists the chorus director during the musical production, as well as heads up the concession stand volunteers during basketball season. Carrie is a team player and very creative when it comes to the connections teachers and dress up days!!
Mrs. Carter does a wonderful job helping staff and students with iPads and general technology issues. Beginning with organizing the daily announcements to seeing students and teachers all day long, Mrs. Carter never seems overwhelmed to help others in a timely manner.

RBMS 7th grade students were recently treated to an educational assembly presented by magician, Chad Crews. His programs are designed to encourage students in mysterious and entertaining ways to read the classics of literature. Chad presented "A Haunted Christmas" which featured Christmas ghost stories by M. R. James and the most famous Christmas ghost story, "A Christmas Carol." The program featured story excerpts along with magic tricks designed to encourage students to read. Thank you to Mr. Chad Crews for your awesome performance.
