Red Bud Middle 7th Grade ELA classes were recently treated to A Haunted Christmas, an engaging educational presentation by Mr. Chad Crews. The show featured Christmas ghost stories by M. R. James and the most famous Christmas ghost story of all time, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. The classes had just completed reading A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, so this performance was the perfect culminating activity. In addition to teasing students with cliffhangers from the stories, Mr. Crews performed mind-boggling magic tricks throughout the performance to heighten interest and encourage students to read.

This week at The Bud.

Good evening Red Bud Middle School Families,
It has been brought to our attention that a permission slip for an upcoming special presentation scheduled at RBMS has begun circulating social media. In an effort to provide transparency, I would like to provide additional details related to the presentation referenced in the permission slip.
On December 14, 2022, there will be a special presentation in the RBMS media center by Mr. Chad Crews. Mr. Crews presents programs to promote reading, literacy, and generate enthusiasm and excitement at libraires. Mr. Crews conducts around 300 shows each year across the southeastern United States. The program that Mr. Crews will present at RBMS is titled, “A Haunted Christmas”. The majority of this program will focus on telling A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens that will include some legends and folklore.
In no way is this presentation an attempt to present an alternate version of the Christmas Story.
We are aware of the concerns that some in our community have expressed regarding how the permission slip provided was worded. I apologize if the wording presented in the program’s description caused you to be alarmed. I want to assure you that the primary objective of this presentation is to promote literacy in a fun way that connects to the 7th grade ELA standards. If you do not want your child to attend this presentation, an alternate assignment will be provided in another location.
As an additional assurance, I would like you to know that myself or an RBMS administrator will be present for all four presentations.
Thank you for your continued support. It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your principal.
Respectfully,
Justin Timms
Principal
