GORDON COUNTY, GA – Fairmount Elementary student, Rose Par, claimed the title as the 2022 Gordon County Schools (GCS) System Spelling Bee Champion on Thursday, January 20, at the Gordon Central High School Blue Box Theater.
Red Bud Elementary student, Marynell McLendon, captured second place and Rafael Santana-Lopez of W.L. Swain Elementary placed third.
The annual spelling bee consisted of individual winners from each Gordon County Schools elementary and middle school, competing to determine the system representative at the virtual Georgia Association of Educators (GAE) Region 1 Spelling Bee on February 26th.
Par now advances as the GCS representative at the Region 1 competition, with McLendon serving as the GCS alternate.
The system spelling bee is sponsored this year by Chick-Fil-A, Dairy Queen, the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce, Red Bud Elementary, Savoy Automobile Museum, Sonic, Taco Bell, Tolbert Elementary, W.L. Swain Elementary, and Zaxby’s.
