The Gordon County Schools system must engage in timely and meaningful consultation with representatives of private schools and with parents about the provision of special education and related services for parentally placed private school children attending private schools within the school system’s jurisdictions. This would include parents of students in a homeschool setting.
Gordon County Schools will hold a Proportionate Share Consultation meeting to carry out this process on Friday, May 10th at 10:00 a.m. The meeting will be held at the GCS Special Education Office, located at 7300 Fairmount Hwy SE, Building 2. If you have any questions, please contact the Gordon County Schools Special Education Department at 706-629-4474.
Gordon County Schools has a duty to locate, evaluate and identify any child residing in the district who are suspected of, or have a disability or developmental delay. If you suspect your child has a disability and may need special education services or if you would like additional information, please contact the District's Special Education Director, Amy Beason at 706-629-4474.
