GORDON COUNTY, GA – Gordon Central High School students exhibited their commitment to vocational excellence by participating in the SkillsUSA Champions Rally, held at the Georgia National Fairgrounds on October 6th. SkillsUSA, a dynamic organization that collaborates with students, educators, and industry experts, serves as a professional platform for trades, creating valuable opportunities for workforce preparation and industry engagement.

The SkillsUSA program empowers students to showcase their exceptional vocational skills and talents, and as a result, several Gordon Central High School (GCHS) students recently earned top state awards and secured spots to compete at the national level.

GCHS takes immense pride in its robust SkillsUSA program, which currently boasts a significant number of dedicated students participating in various categories such as construction, automotive, video production, and various employability skills related to every profession.

The first SkillsUSA challenge for GCHS students is the Construction competition, scheduled for October 31, 2023, commencing at 8:30 a.m. at the Cobb County Civic Center. This event is hosted by the Associated General Contractors of Georgia.

In a separate endeavor, three GCHS students, namely Abigail Guardado, Melanie Chiapas, and Aileen Reyes, recently attended the SkillsUSA Elevate Chapter Leadership Conference. Their active participation in this conference enriched their leadership skills and contributed to the ongoing success of the GCHS SkillsUSA chapter.
