Gordon County, GA — The College Board has recently honored ten exceptional students from Gordon County Schools for their outstanding achievements as Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars during the 2022-23 school year. This outstanding accomplishment is a testament to the dedication and academic excellence of these students and their schools.
Gordon Central High School, in particular, takes pride in having nine students who achieved the prestigious title of AP Scholars. Furthermore, the school's AP exam pass rate surpassed 61%, significantly exceeding both state and national averages. The students who earned the distinction of AP Scholar from Gordon Central High School are as follows:
- Evan Wood (AP Scholar)
- Max Stone (AP Scholar)
- Jude Clance (AP Scholar)
- Nathan Clance (AP Scholar)
- Yaleet Codrington (AP Scholar)
- Catherine Hughes (AP Scholar with Distinction)
- Ava Perez (AP Scholar)
- Kayla Silvers (AP Scholar with Distinction)
- Tyler Waits (AP Scholar)
Additionally, Sonoraville High School proudly boasts one of its own, Makena Blalock, who qualified as an AP Scholar during the same academic year.
These students' achievements are categorized into different levels of recognition:
- AP Scholar: Awarded to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.
- AP Scholar with Honor: Granted to students who achieve an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, with scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
- AP Scholar with Distinction: Conferred upon students who maintain an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, with scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
- AP International Diploma: Presented to students who exhibit exceptional achievement across various disciplines, subject to eligibility requirements.
These exemplary students have not only demonstrated academic prowess but have also exemplified the values of hard work and dedication, which will undoubtedly serve them well in their future endeavors.
