As the superintendent of Gordon County Schools, I am honored to welcome you to our website and our school system, where we focus on providing quality classroom instruction and a variety of educational experiences for all students.
The history of our schools began in the late 1800s with one-room community schoolhouses throughout Gordon County. Today, we are a district of six elementary, two middle, and two high schools, as well as a college and career academy. All of our schools provide students a rich, well-rounded education to prepare them for success after high school, no matter the path they choose.
Our schools continue to honor their rich histories, as they welcome every new generation that fills their classrooms. While the facilities are new and updated to provide a welcoming learning environment for students, schools remain steeped in their communities and provide a welcoming environment to all stakeholders. In our facilities, you will see displays of past treasures that paint the picture of the traditions that built each school, and you will also find a focus on opportunities for the present as well as a vision for educational transformation to take our students into the future.
Our district is currently home to more than 6,500 students. We offer a plethora of opportunities for students to learn, excel, and showcase their successes in a variety of ways, boasting both state and national championships in areas ranging from performing arts and athletics to Career and Technical Student Organizations, such as JROTC, HOSA and FFA.
We trust you will find our schools welcoming. We are excited for you to share in our journey, support our students, and celebrate their accomplishments.
Thank you for visiting our site.
Proud to serve,
Alice Mashburn
