On November 17, Youth Leadership students from Gordon Central and Sonoraville High Schools participated in Government Day. The students visited the Georgia Supreme Court and participated in a mock trial. They also visited the Capitol. The students had a chance to meet and hear from several members of the Georgia General Assembly who represent Gordon County, including Representative Tom Graves, Representative John Meadows, and Senator Preston Smith. Youth Leadership is sponsored by the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce. It is a leadership program for juniors and seniors from all area high schools, providing activities that allow students to enhance their knowledge about the economic and civic opportunities available to Gordon County residents. |
