The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act defines "homeless children and youths" as "individuals who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence."
My name is Georgette G. Hunt and as the Homeless Liaison/McKinney-Vento representative for Gordon County Schools I serve as one of the primary contacts between families who are living in situations that are transitional or temporary due to financial difficulty and school staff, district personnel, shelter workers, and other service providers. The liaison coordinates services to help ensure that children and youth living in transition enroll in school and have the opportunity to succeed academically. This may include allowing a child to remain at their school or origin, meaning the school they were attending when they became homeless, if it is in the best interest of the child and feasible, as well as removing other barriers to education. If your family is in need of assistance please feel free to contact me at 706-879-5048 or email@example.com .
